Foxes blog:

This week in Foxes, we have been introduced to our new Author of the Term.

We discovered that her name is Helen Nicoll. The children were surprised to figure out that Helen has written some of our favourite stories - especially Meg and Mog!

Following the children’s interests and being so excited about our Author of the Term, we have been using our artistic skills to create objects to retell the stories with. We have used junk modelling resources to create our own bats. We have had lots of discussions around what features these bats would need - what could we use to make the wings? How could we change the colour of their eyes?

The children decided to use paper plates to create our own spiders. This has helped us to continue developing our fine motor skills. We have used string to thread through holes we have made with hole punches. These acted as our legs. The children used their imaginations to consider how they could use resources in different ways.

Following the delivery of our new Pip and Pap Rainbow Phase books, we have had lengthy discussions around our own vegetable patches. The children have naturally taken this idea into their mark making. We have created beautiful pieces with lots of different types of vegetables. We cannot wait to grow our own over the next few months - just like Pip and Pap!
