Hedgehogs blog:

After a wonderful summer, we have welcomed everyone back into the base with open arms! We are excited to welcome all the new children into the centre. We have begun our time in our new room by exploring the new environment. We have really enjoyed having free flow play with the Foxes children. This has enabled us to have even more space to explore and play alongside children that are older than us. During the first few weeks back, we have loved exploring our expressive art and design skills. We have spent the week decorating our home corner. We have been practising our cutting and sticking skills by collaging ‘bricks’ onto our houses. These are up in our home corner for when we roleplay being at home. As a team, we have been exploring ways to better our communication and language skills. We have been encouraging children to talk about their feelings. We understand that coming back into the centre and moving rooms can be scary and we would like our children to be able to express their feelings to those around them. We are able to speak about what makes us happy and our favourite activities to do at home. By talking about our feelings, this has allowed us to make strong bonds with the children and create a safe space within the nursery for them.
