Foxes blog:

During the October half term, Foxes have been spending time developing and securing their main key skills. We started in the Creative Area where we have been focusing on our cutting skills. Our key adults around us are continuing to show us how to hold and manoeuvre our scissors safely and correctly. The children are becoming more confident with using scissors independently. For our fine motor skills, we have been using different hole punches to create shapes in our paper. Our key adults have been modelling how we can build ABAB patterns. We are becoming good at spotting these independently! In line with our curriculum, we have been designing, modelling and building our own vehicles. We have used a range of different construction materials that give us the opportunity to connect and combine. We have particularly enjoyed the Mobilo. Creating vehicles has meant that we are able to have lengthy discussions around shapes - ‘what shapes do we need for our wheels?, ‘What if we had triangles for wheels? What would happen? Shall we investigate? We took our learning around shapes even further by transporting our blocks to the light box table. The transparent blocks meant that we could really see the different shapes and sizes. We are good at comparing them. Finally, we have been developing our imaginations in the role play area. We have enjoyed preparing our tables ready for a well deserved dinner!
